How it works

How Upgrade My Home works

Understand your options, submit one enquiry and, where suitable, receive a small number of relevant introductions to participating installers. We do not distribute enquiries to a general list of contractors.

The matching process

How the service works

Each enquiry is reviewed by Upgrade My Home. Where suitable options are available, we may make a small number of introductions rather than sending your details to a general list of contractors.

  1. 1

Tell us about your home upgrade

You provide practical information about the home, location, energy use, timing and how we can contact you.

  2. 2

    We review your enquiry

Upgrade My Home reviews the information and may contact you if the enquiry needs clarification.

  3. 3

    We identify suitable participating installers

We may identify a small number of participating installers based on your requirements and the services and coverage they provide. A match, installer availability or a fixed number of introductions is not guaranteed.

  4. 4

We make a small number of relevant introductions

We may share your enquiry and contact details with selected participating installers so they can contact you about it.

Your enquiry

What information you provide

For a solar enquiry, we ask for enough information to understand what you are considering and carry out an initial review. This includes:

  • county and an optional Eircode
  • whether you are a homeowner, landlord or another type of applicant
  • property type and approximate monthly electricity bill
  • battery interest and likely installation timeframe
  • your name, email address and phone number

We do not use the initial enquiry as a technical solar survey. Roof measurements, final system design and site-specific technical checks belong later in the process with a suitably qualified installer.

Initial review

How installer options are identified

A participating installer is a business that has joined the service and may have a commercial arrangement with Upgrade My Home. During the initial review, we may consider location, project type, timing, stated requirements and information the business provides about its services and coverage.

An installer selected for an introduction appears potentially relevant to the information supplied. It does not mean Upgrade My Home has approved the installer, assessed its work or guaranteed the outcome.

The participating installer network may not include every installer operating in your area.

Homeowner control

How we limit who receives your information

How limited introductions work

Upgrade My Home does not distribute enquiries broadly. We review the information and only make introductions to a small number of participating installers considered relevant to the enquiry.

Submitting an enquiry allows us to review it and, where suitable, share it with selected participating installers so they can respond about that enquiry.

When enquiry information may be shared

Upgrade My Home may use your information to review the enquiry, contact you about it, identify potentially suitable participating installers and make relevant introductions. Selected installers may then contact you about the submitted enquiry.

Information is limited to what is reasonably needed for a selected installer to respond to the enquiry.

Commercial disclosure

How participating businesses may pay Upgrade My Home

Upgrade My Home may receive fees or other commercial consideration from participating installers for introductions, participation or other agreed services.

A business may need a commercial arrangement with Upgrade My Home to take part. This means the options presented may come from participating businesses rather than every installer available in the market.

A commercial arrangement does not guarantee an installer, its work or the outcome. The participating network may not cover the whole market.

Service limits

What Upgrade My Home does and does not do

What we do

  • provide practical homeowner information
  • review the project details you submit
  • identify participating installer options that may be relevant
  • make a small number of relevant introductions where suitable

What we do not guarantee

  • that an installer will be available or provide a quote
  • the price, quality, timescale or outcome of any work
  • grant eligibility, planning permission or grid connection
  • that the options presented cover the whole market

Before agreeing to work

What to check before entering into a contract

Your contract is with the installer, not Upgrade My Home. Before signing or paying a deposit, check the details yourself.

Business details

Confirm the legal business name, contact details, insurance and who will carry out the work.

Registration and grants

Where a grant is relevant, confirm the current SEAI requirements and whether the contractor must be registered for the scheme.

Written quotation

Ask for an itemised quote covering equipment, labour, VAT, exclusions, payment stages and likely timescales.

Design and warranties

Check the proposed system, expected performance assumptions, product warranties and workmanship cover.

Responsibilities

Confirm who handles grant paperwork, planning questions, grid applications, inspections and aftercare.

Terms and concerns

Read cancellation, complaints and dispute terms. Ask questions about anything unclear before committing.

Homeowner information

How editorial information and factual updates are handled

Upgrade My Home publishes guides to help homeowners understand costs, grants, choices and common questions. We aim to use current information from relevant public bodies, regulators and other clearly identified sources.

Rules, grants, prices and product information can change. Important factual content should carry a reviewed or updated date where appropriate, and confirmed errors should be corrected.

A commercial relationship with a participating business does not guarantee favourable editorial coverage. Where commercial content or a relevant relationship needs to be disclosed, it should be labelled clearly.

Corrections and concerns

Tell us when something needs attention

If you believe a guide contains an error, have a concern about an installer introduction or want to question how information has been handled, contact Upgrade My Home with the page or enquiry details and a clear description of the issue.

We will review the information supplied and correct confirmed factual errors where appropriate.
